Regardless, of which one Carol chooses, I think she will be very happy with her new system, and won't believe how much faster it is, in load up times, and opening of programs. And yes, Norton was the worst for slowing down my system, when scanning. The Kaspersky one, I had read was an extremely good one, but I have never tried it. I used to use Eset NOD32 as antivirus, and it was very light, but once the subscription ran out, I just went to the free antivirus programs. (It might be the small RAM size, though, and not exactly Avast.)

It does not seem to be a problem on the desktop (8 GB RAM), but on the Windows 7 small netbook, it seems to hang some streaming european t.v. I felt like a total idiot because I didn't know how to deal with it. I finally had to go in SAFE mode and get rid of it that way.

Turns out there was a tiny little piece of AVG still in my hard drive, even using the Install and Removal command in Control Panel didn't get it all out.
Took me a while to figure out how to get online with it in control. I had a devil of a time getting it to work properly the first time I installed it. The only thing with Kaspersky is that it doesn't play nice with other virus programs. That was when I bought Kaspersky and I've never looked back.

They don't normally refund money for software issues, but they did for me because I was "this close" to tears. I buy a lot at Staples and they knew I was really angry with Norton. I had bought a Norton at Staples one time and I was that frustrated with it that I took it back to Staples. When it was scanning, it would slow my computer down to a crawl, it was that bad. I was using Norton and found it to be bloated. I never used Avast and didn't want to tell Carol one way or the other, since I had never used it.įor the last several years, I've been using Kaspersky.
I also used AVG and Malwarebytes in conjunction with each other. Oh wow, I used Zone Alarm as my firewall for years and really liked that program.
